Celebrating the past, continuing the legacy…

Charlie’s legacy – student sailors past and present

Busy times here at YSF!  This past weekend over 100 supporters, volunteers, sailors and friends gathered at the VBYC to honor YSF founder and Chairman Emeritus Charlie Pope.  It was an evening of fond memories and deep gratitude, and an opportunity not only to offer a gesture of thanks to Charlie and Chris, but also to reflect on the rich history of YSF and hear of the vision, determination and heart responsible for this organization’s seven years of growth and service. Guests ranged from “old salts” who helped launch the foundation in 2009 to some of our newest sailors who are enthusiastically learning the sport as members of the VBHS Varsity Sailing Team.

This weekend’s Fall 420 Regatta, hosted by YSF, is the perfect illustration of Charlie’s legacy to our community.  Our teens will compete against teams from Melbourne, Jensen Beach, et al right here along our stretch of the Indian River Lagoon.  So come on out this Saturday by land or by sea and join the fun and cheer on our kids.  Click here for more info.
