Annual Appeal

The YSF Annual Appeal provides about 55% of annual revenues with essential unrestricted operational support. Gifts from individual donors and donor-directed foundations fund twelve junior sailing programs that impact 350 young people each year. About 50% of our sailors come from undeserved homes and sail free.

Capital Fund

The Phase II $1 Million Capital Campaign to build-out Charlie and Chris Pope Marine Recreational Park on the waterfront is underway in the fall of 2025. Donations will fund the construction of a large educational pavilion and three picnic pavilions with attendant benches, tables, grills and ADA compliant walkways. A successful Phase I campaign raised $5.3 million to build the Pat Harris Community Sailing Center.

Operating Endowment Fund

YSF is building an Operating Endowment Fund with the goal o endowing a minimum of 40% of the annual operating expenses. This requires a fund of $6.4 million generating a 5% or 320,000 each year. The YSF Endowment Fund is managed by the Indian River Community Foundation.

Planned Giving

By making YSF a beneficiary of your estate plan you can leave a lasting living legacy helping young people achieve their full potential through the medium of sailing. One of the most meaningful, common, and convenient strategies is a bequest.

Doante Boats

YSF accepts boat donations for the purpose of resale after restoration by our dedicated volunteers. Turn your used boat into a tax-deductible donation that will generate funds in direct support of our junior sailing programs. We handle all the paperwork for you.

Volunteer

YSF offers many opportunities to volunteer. For those with sailing experience there are opportunities to teach both children and adults in our various programs. We have qualified instructors to guide and mentor you. Many of our volunteers have earned instructors to guide and mentor you. Many of our volunteers have earned instructor certification from U.S. Sailing. If you are skilled at piloting a small powerboat, we have opportunities for safety boat skippers and crew.

For those who like to work with their hands we have volunteer teams that repair boats and maintain our fleet of over 80 sailboats and 10 safety boats.

We also have opportunities to help with production of the many social events we host throughout the year as well as to assist with office administration.
