YSF has many class options to cater to the needs and desires of virtually any junior sailor from ages 8-18. Our coaches are skilled at advising parents on the right class for thier child. Below is a description of our offerings.

Homeschool Classes
All classes offered 11:00am-2:00pm
Beginner Opti:

Our most popular class. Sailors learn to rig and sail the Opti (small single-handed boat). Sailors must be less than 105 lbs.

Intermediate Opti:

For Sailors that have completed at least a full season of beginner Opti. Students will fine-tune their sailing skills and learn more advanced techniques. Sailors must be less than 105 lbs.

Intermediate Adventure:

This class focuses on the skills and fundamentals needed for both single and double handed sailing. These classes are offered in a fun and recreational environment for sailors not interested in racing programs. This program is for sailors that have completed at least 2 semesters of sailing an intermediate skill level. Ideal weight class is 100-200 lbs.

Beginner 420:

This course introduces sailors to the double-handed 420 sailboat and is designed for sailors 105 lbs. or above.

Learn to Race with Flotilla Fridays:

This class is a mix of Adventure sailing and introduction to racing. This class is designed for older sailors advancing from Adventure sailing on Feva. Sailors will learn boat handling skills on the C420 and a variety of other boats including Hobie, Rocket, Laser, and “Flotilla Fridays”. Sailors are 105 lbs. or above.

After-School Classes
All Classes offered 4:00-6:00pm
Beginner Opti:

Beginner 420:

For new sailors weighing 105 lbs. and up. Sailors will learn to rig adn sail the 420 (two-handed boat).

Fees

All first-time beginners sail for free for the first semester. After that, Beginner fees are $175 per semester.

 

All intermediate programs including Adventure have a fee of $345 per semester.

 

Fees should not prevent a sailor from sailing. Scholarships are available upon request.

Let's Go Racing!
Opti Racing

After completing intermediate Opti, sailors can be chosen to join the Shelby Racing Team. This is a competitive Opti racing program that competes in the Florida East Coast Series and other high-level regattas across the state of Florida.

Fees

This program has a fee of $515 per semester.
No fee should prevent a sailor from sailing.
Scholarships are available upon request.

C420 Racing

These are competitive C420 racing programs for experienced high school sailors. Sailors compete in the Florida East Coast Series and other high-level regattas across the state of Florida.

JV C420 Racing

This class prepares sailors for the competitive format of high school racing. Intermediate level sailors will learn the basic techniques and tactics of racing the two handed C420 sailboat. Weight minimum is 115 lbs.

Fees

This program has a fee of $345 per semester.
No fee should prevent a sailor from sailing.
Scholarships are available upon request.

Varsity C420 Racing

This is the elite class of high school racers. Sailors will fine tune their skills to compete with sailors across the state of Florida at regattas held by the Florida East Coast Series and other high-level regattas across Florida. Weight minimum is 115 lbs.

Summer Camp

We offer one week Summer Camp during the 8 weeks of June and July. Camp is for the youth ages 8-15 years. The camp combines a learn to sail experience offered by certified instructors using our sailboats. Includes extensive on the water experience, games, camp t-shirt and lunch every day.

Beginner Camp

For youths with no or limited experience ages 8-13 years. Held Monday through Friday 9AM to 2PM. Includes extensive on the water experience, games, camp t-shirt and lunch every day.

Fee is $350 per week

Scholarships available upon request

Summer camp closed till next season

Intermediate Camp

For youths experienced in sailing and interested in improving their sailing skills ages 8-15 years. Held Monday through Friday 9AM to 2PM. Includes extensive on the water experience, games, camp t-shirt and lunch every day.
